STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Da’John Lancaster, a 25-year-old man from Newport News, was arrested in Stafford County following a month-long investigation into a shooting incident. Lancaster was wanted for multiple serious offenses, including felony intimidation and failure to appear for a weapons charge.

The incident that led to Lancaster’s arrest occurred early on May 4th, when deputies responded to reports of a suspicious person looking into vehicles at Arbor Grove Apartments on Providence Street. While searching the area, deputies encountered Lancaster, who fired two rounds from a gun upon being challenged. Despite an extensive search involving K-9 units and aerial drone surveillance, Lancaster initially evaded capture.

Detective K.W. McBride took charge of the investigation, identifying Lancaster as the primary suspect. Lancaster’s criminal background included outstanding warrants for felony intimidation in Lynchburg and a missed court appearance related to a weapons offense in Hampton.

On May 30th, at approximately 12:15 p.m., deputies spotted Lancaster traveling in a blue Hyundai Sonata on Richmond Highway. A high-risk vehicle stop was executed near Garrisonville Road, leading to his arrest without further incident.

Lancaster now faces charges in Stafford County of attempted aggravated murder and attempted aggravated malicious wounding, in addition to being served on his prior warrants. He is currently being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
